WHITE RIVER – Six key syndicate members implicated in a massive rhino-horn trafficking network, appeared in the White River Magistrate’s Court on Monday, October 15 for their formal bail application. The matter was, however, postponed to Friday, October 19. The accused were  arrested on September 18 during a joint operation by the The Hawks’ provincial and national teams, the Special Task Force, SAPS Forensic Services, SANParks, the Department of Environmental Affairs, SARS and Customs, local and provincial detectives and the National Prosecuting Authority.

Sydney Petrus Mabuza (53), Clyde Lubisi (32), Cloud Mnisi (33), Joseph Nyalungu (53), Aretha Mhlanga (39) and Rachel Qwabane (33), have already made a series of court appearances since their arrest.

The defence in this matter has already presented their arguments, and the state is opposing bail. All six accused were remanded in custody.
