ELUKWATINI - An immigration officer of the Department of Home Affairs, stationed at the Oshoek Port of Entry, has been arrested and dismissed.

Mndeni John Mnisi (35) was arrested in February 2018 for fraud.

According to the police press statement, Mnisi was arrested for having unlawfully endorsed a stamp on a passport belonging to a citizen of eSwatini at a time when she was not present.

On the day in question, Mnisi was caught red-handed, stamping the passport, by the Assistant Director, Counter Corruption, and was later dismissed.

The case was transferred to the Hawks Serious Corruption Investigation, Middelburg. The investigation was finalised and the case was presented before the public prosecutor, who authorised the summons for the accused to appear in court on November 18.
