Death of constable is mourned by all

DELMAS - The Acting Provincial Commissioner for the South African Police Services (SAPS) in Mpumalanga, Maj Gen Frans Mashika, extended his heartfelt condolences on behalf of the SAPS to the family of the late Const Jane Thandi Ntuli, who was attached to the Delmas Police Station, who passed away yesterday, May 12.

Ntuli, 36, who was eight months pregnant, was driving home from work on Saturday evening on the R42 Bronkhorstspruit Road, when an unknown vehicle struck hers from the back, after the driver had apparently skipped a stop sign. She was airlifted to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. Doctors managed to deliver her baby on Saturday evening, but Ntuli unfortunately succumbed to her injuries yesterday morning.

The incident is currently under investigation and a case of culpable homicide has been opened.

Mashika said that Const Ntuli’s sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, the police as well as the community which she had served. He strongly appealed to drivers to always adhere to the rules of the road, so as to prevent unnecessary loss of life.
