Two nabbed for prescription fraud

A total of 153 illegal transactions allegedly took place during April 2015, resulting in a total loss of approximately R1,5 million to medical schemes.

Two nabbed for prescription fraud

ACORNHOEK - Two suspects, Giyane Raymond Milindi (43)  and Carol Maqwanganyi (44), appeared in the Acornhoek Magistrate’s Court on September 6 on charges of fraud. They were  arrested by members of the Mpumalanga Serious Commercial Crime Investigation Unit on September 5 for issuing fraudulent prescriptions to patients.

One of the suspects is employed at Tintswalo Hospital as an assistant pharmacist. Milindi was granted R6 000 bail, whilst Magwanganyi, who owns a private Pharmacy in Acornhoek, received bail of R10 000.

A total of 153 illegal transactions allegedly took place during April 2015, resulting in a total loss of approximately R1,5 million to medical schemes.

The case has been postponed to October 30 for further investigation.
