Police sergeant arrested at Mitchells Plain SAPS
Lt Gen Sizakhele Dyantyi warned SAPS members against becoming involved in corrupt activities, saying there would be zero tolerance for officers who accepted bribes or abused their positions.
MITCHELLS PLAIN, Western Cape: A police sergeant is expected to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrate's Court tomorrow on a corruption charge after he was arrested during an anti-corruption sting operation at Mitchells Plain SAPS yesterday.
According to SAPS media liaison Sgt Wesley Twigg, members of the Anti-Corruption Unit arrested the officer after he accepted cash to take dagga and tobacco into the police holding cells.
Twigg said the sergeant was caught in the act and the cash was found in his possession. The dagga and tobacco were subsequently confiscated from the cells.
